Computer Recycling — Desktop and Laptops
Bulk recycling of end-of-life desktops and laptops. We service Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra.
Electronics Recycler offers specialist computer recycling for desktops and laptops across Australia’s major capitals. We are a bulk recycler: for qualifying volumes we offer a complimentary pickup service. We will work with you to determine if you qualify based on the quantity and location of your equipment.
What We Recycle
We accept end-of-life desktop computers, towers, all-in-ones and laptops from offices, IT refresh projects and commercial clear-outs. Whether you are in Sydney’s North Shore or Parramatta, Melbourne’s CBD or Dandenong, Brisbane’s inner suburbs or Logan, or Canberra and Queanbeyan, we can arrange collection or accept drop-off at our facilities. Our service areas include major suburbs in each city — from Chatswood and Macquarie Park in Sydney to Richmond and Clayton in Melbourne, and from Fortitude Valley and Milton in Brisbane to Belconnen and Fyshwick in Canberra.
Recyclable Components in Desktops and Laptops
Desktop and laptop computers contain a range of valuable and recoverable materials. Recycling them diverts these from landfill and supports resource recovery. Typical recyclable materials include:
- Metals: Aluminium (cases, heat sinks), steel (chassis, hard drive housings), copper (cabling, power supplies, motherboards), and small amounts of precious metals in circuit boards.
- Plastics: Casings, bezels and internal components. Sorted and recycled where possible.
- Glass: LCD and LED panels in monitors and all-in-ones; often processed separately.
- Circuit boards: Motherboards, RAM and expansion cards — processed for metal recovery and safe handling of hazardous components.
- Power supplies: Copper windings, steel and aluminium; capacitors and other components handled in line with regulations.
- Batteries (laptops): Lithium or other chemistries; removed and processed through appropriate battery recycling pathways.
We ensure these materials are processed in compliance with Australian standards and that data-bearing components such as hard drives are handled according to your requirements — including secure destruction when needed. For certified data destruction, see our Hard Drive and Data Storage Secure Destruction service.
Bulk Volume and Free Pickup
We focus on bulk recycling. Free pickup is contingent on there being sufficient volume. We will work with you to determine if your quantity of desktops and laptops qualifies. Smaller volumes are welcome at our drop-off facilities in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra, where we have public drop-off options at each site. Contact us with your approximate count and location so we can advise the best option.
Who Uses This Service
Corporate offices, government departments, schools, IT resellers and businesses undertaking fleet refresh or office moves. We service industrial IT companies, data centre operators and enterprise clients across our four cities and their surrounding suburbs. Whether you are in Sydney’s western suburbs, Melbourne’s south-east, Brisbane’s north or Canberra’s industrial areas, we can support your computer recycling needs.
