Lead Acid Battery Recycling provides a compliant pathway for end-of-life lead acid batteries from UPS systems, backup power, vehicles, forklifts and industrial applications. Electronics Recycler services Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra. We are a bulk recycler; complimentary pickup is contingent on sufficient volume. We will work with you to determine if you qualify.

What We Recycle

We accept lead acid batteries (VRLA, flooded, gel) from data centre UPS, telecom backup, emergency lighting, vehicles and industrial equipment. Our service covers each capital and key suburbs — including Sydney’s Silverwater and Villawood, Melbourne’s Campbellfield and Dandenong South, Brisbane’s Acacia Ridge and Wacol, and Canberra’s Fyshwick and Hume. We have public drop-off options at our Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra facilities for smaller quantities; bulk loads may qualify for pickup.

Recyclable Components in Lead Acid Batteries

Lead acid batteries are highly recyclable. Recovery of materials supports circular economy and reduces environmental impact. Typical recyclable materials include:

  • Lead: Plates and terminals. Recovered and refined for reuse in new batteries or other products.
  • Sulphuric acid: Electrolyte is neutralised or processed; sulphur can be recovered or converted for safe disposal.
  • Polypropylene (plastic cases): Battery casings are recycled into new plastic products.
  • Other metals: Small amounts of antimony, calcium and other metals in alloys; recovered where feasible.

We use compliant recyclers who process lead acid batteries in line with Australian standards. Documentation can be provided for your records. Lead acid batteries must not be sent to landfill; recycling is the responsible option.

Bulk Volume and Free Pickup

We focus on bulk lead acid battery recycling. Free pickup is contingent on there being sufficient volume. We will work with you to assess your quantity (number of batteries or approximate weight) and location and confirm whether you qualify for complimentary collection. Smaller volumes can be dropped off at our facilities in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra. This service is often combined with our Data Centre Recycling or IT Recycling when decommissioning UPS and related equipment.

Who Uses This Service

Data centre and IT operators replacing UPS batteries, facilities managers, automotive and industrial businesses, and any organisation with end-of-life lead acid batteries. We predominantly service Australian business and work with clients across our four cities. Compliant recycling supports ESG and regulatory requirements.
